speech and language therapy
Julie Meelia, MS CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist who has been providing skilled services to children in the community for over 20 years.
Julie brings a background in sensory integration, and augmentative and alternative communication. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of New Hampshire, and a master’s degree in Communication Disorders from the Pennsylvania State University.
Though she has worked with pediatric clients from birth to 18, her niche is the 2-5 year old population. One of her passions is helping autistic children to improve their communication from a whole-child, neurodiversity affirming perspective. There are many pieces underlying why children struggle to communicate that need to be addressed before spontaneous words happen. She strives to help parents understand and support their child’s development to build communication.
Julie lives on the Southcoast with her 17 year-old twins, black lab, and 4 guinea pigs. She enjoys building things, gardening, exercising, playing fast-pitch softball and cooking. You can find her watching her children’s sporting events, or throwing roadside furniture finds into her truck for refinishing. She is fueled by good coffee and laughter.
